John has over 25 years of experience in Public Company Readiness, Technical Accounting, General Accounting, SEC Reporting, and Accounting Operational Improvement. John began his career with Deloitte’s external audit group where he was ranked in the top of his peer group working on Houston’s largest client. Throughout his career, John worked on various initial and supplemental public offerings. Since Deloitte, John has supported companies in various capacities, all supporting their Public Company Readiness efforts. As a part of those efforts, John has served in interim Controllership capacities, responsible for the day-to-day operations of client accounting departments. His responsibilities included the execution of an effective and efficient month-end close, internal, operational, and management reporting, accounting research and preparation of technical accounting position papers on various topics, external financial reporting, coordination with external auditors, cost accounting, and numerous other accounting projects.

Major Projects

  • Initial Public Offering – Oilfield Services client with $700M in annual revenues. John was a leader for a comprehensive public company readiness team to prepare for key aspects of an IPO and post-IPO initiatives. The effort was to integrate two separate entities for the offering. The project team was responsible for the overall project management, month-end close for each entity, consolidating the two entities, internal management reporting, audit support, technical accounting and preparation of position papers, SEC reporting, data analytics, implementation of accounting pronouncements, implementing internal controls, SOX compliance, IT infrastructure support and cyber security considerations and initiatives.
  • Initial Public Offering – Renewable Energy client with a market cap of $1.2B. John led a team to support the accounting and finance department during an initial public offering. The project team successfully improved the month-end close timeline to meet public company reporting requirements. The project team also successfully upgraded the client team through training and external hiring, to have the proper skill set to meet the demands of a public company. Other significant activities included the implementation of accounting pronouncements, technical accounting and preparation of position papers, SEC reporting, and collaboration with external auditors.
  • Initial Public Offering – Oilfield Services client with $400M in annual revenues. John was a leader for a comprehensive public company readiness team to prepare for key aspects of an IPO and post-IPO initiatives. The project team was responsible for the overall project management, audit support, implementation of accounting pronouncements, supported the implementation of a lease accounting software, supported the implementation of a SEC Reporting solution, technical accounting and preparation of position papers, SEC reporting, implementing internal controls, SOX compliance, IT infrastructure support and cyber security considerations and initiatives.
