He focuses on credit risk, operational risk, market risk and process redesign offering experience in risk function assessments, regulatory compliance, risk governance, model governance, process remediation and redesign, data analytics, management and risk reporting, system design and testing.
Led engagement to develop a unique and innovative risk measurement tool to quantify risk for a large US Bank. The risk measurement tool summarized the organization’s risk levels into a single, customized number, by aligning metrics with risks and goals/strategies for the organization. Developed dashboards and a process for capturing data and stakeholder input.
Led engagements to assess and enhance the ALLL methodology, process and controls at regional and mid-sized banks. Engagements included evaluating policies, re-engineering processes, analyzing data inputs and outputs, assessing multiple credit models, systems and documentation and creating reporting templates to improve the bank’s ALLL methodology.
Led engagements to assess model governance at financial institutions. Reviews included model development, validation, performance monitoring, documentation, model inventory, risk rating and roles and responsibilities. Model governance reviews also included building and designing a methodology to quantify, measure and manage model risk.
Redesigned the workflow and organizational structure of an $85B (in assets) regional bank’s fraud management department with specific focus on the department’s operational process and reporting activities. Designed and implemented a functional organizational model and advised Management on employee placement. Led multiple full day training sessions on a new system and process to a department of over 60 FTEs.
Performed validation and automation re-design of a counterparty risk model for a major credit card company’s network services organization. Defined approach for incorporating country risk for different types of counterparties. Formulated and documented business rules for use in the risk rating process based on automation.
Led large team in completing a current state process assessment and benchmarking analysis of the Risk Monitoring function for a top ten US Bank. Objectives included identifying and implementing improvement opportunities for preventative controls, eliminating duplication among various Operational Risk Management functions and recommending automated monitoring techniques.
