Managing Director

Marty is a Managing Director in Toronto and leads the finance transformation practice in Canada. He assists clients across industries with finance and business transformation initiatives focused on target operating model design, process improvement and technology-enabled change. His project experience ranges from leading finance function assessments, requirements gathering to vendor selection to leading large teams in the implementation of technology solutions.

Major Projects:

Assisted a publicly traded, Toronto based service provider to the financial services industry with the selection of a financial consolidation and budgeting and planning technology solution. Also acted as project risk advisor for the implementation of the solution. Assisted the client with RFP process including gathering of requirements, vendor demonstrations and evaluations and final selection. As project risk advisor, played key role in evaluating project management structure for implementation team and also advised on key risks during design and build.

Assisted a Canadian non-profit entity responsible for the payments and clearing system in Canada with the end to end selection process of a new financial system. Led a team responsible for process workshops, requirements gathering, demo scenario use cases and the development of an RFP. Led and managed the vendor selection process including developing vendor scorecards, analyzing results and development of a final recommendation presentation.

Assisted a real estate investment trust with the assessment of their finance function to prepare for merger integration. Lead interviews and workshops as part of detailed process review for accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end close, financial and management reporting and budgeting & planning process. Also assisted with the development of new finance organization to meet the needs of the new finance function. Performed benchmarking analysis and assisted with the development of final report outlining key recommendations for each process and roadmap for implementation of recommended initiatives

For a US-based real estate client in the single-family home rental business performed a rapid finance assessment as the client had experienced significant growth and the finance function was struggling to meet the demands of the organization. Performed a review of key processes (AP, record to report, AR and revenue, cash), organization design and supporting technology infrastructure. Developed practical recommendations including 90-day plan for client to reorganize function, procure a new AP system and perform a skills assessment. Excellent work lead to follow-on engagement to assist with execution of 90-day plan.
