Managing Director – New York Market Leader

Matt is a Managing Director in the Risk and Compliance practice, the Market Leader for New York covering the New York City metropolitan area and a member of Protiviti’s geographical leadership team. He previously led the Operational Risk service offering for Protiviti and has served as the Strategic Account Leader for multiple top global banks and insurers.   

Matt was an inaugural member of Protiviti’s Executive Team Advisory Council (ETAC) from 2020-2022.  In that role, Matt supported Protiviti’s Executive Team with strategies related to the pandemic, remote working, emerging office technology and future of work initiatives.  Matt has experience in credit risk, fraud and financial crimes, Line of Defense assessments along with building first line of defense risk/control functions, regulatory compliance, risk governance, model governance, issue management and remediation, data analytics, board reporting and dashboarding and application design and implementation. These experiences focused on banking, insurance, fintech, technology and consumer finance organisations.


  • Built, enhanced and strengthened first line of defense risk and control functions at multiple global and large US Financial Institutions 
  • Assessed the Operational Risk Program and Framework of a G-SIB focused on the BCBS Principle for the sound management of operational risk
  • Completed a current state process assessment and benchmarking analysis of the risk monitoring function for a top ten US Bank
  • Redesigned the workflow and organisational structure of a top 10 US Bank fraud management department with specific focus on the department’s operational risk process and reporting activities
  • Performed risk assessments for all lines of business for a top North American bank. Created a methodology and reporting for the lines of business and enterprise-wide assessments to be utilised going forward
