Noted Economist and Author Peter Blair Henry Joins Protiviti Advisory Board

MENLO PARK, Calif., April 18, 2019 – Global consulting firm Protiviti announces that Peter Blair Henry has joined its advisory board. The board, formed ten years ago, provides market and business insights to assist Protiviti and its clients in confidently facing the challenges of a dynamic world.

Henry is Dean Emeritus and W. R. Berkley Professor of Economics and Finance at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. The youngest person to hold the Deanship, Henry joined the Stern faculty and assumed the role in 2010. During his eight years as Dean, Henry raised over $225 million, more than any dean in the school's history. He joined Stern from Stanford University where he was the Konosuke Matsushita Professor of International Economics, the John A. and Cynthia Fry Gunn Faculty Scholar, and the Associate Director of the Center for Global Business and the Economy at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business.

Henry led the external economics advisory group for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and was subsequently chosen to lead the Presidential Transition Team’s review of international lending agencies such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. In June 2009, President Obama appointed him to the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships.

Henry is a published author on topics including debt relief, international capital flows and the role of institutions in economic growth. His book, TURNAROUND: Third World Lessons for First World Growth, addresses both economic efficiency for emerging countries and international relations. His expertise in emerging markets and international finance has led to regular invitations to address the IMF and to testify before the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and before various ambassadors to the United Nations.

Henry received his PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Prior to attending MIT, he was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University where he earned a BA degree in mathematics. He also holds a BA degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Henry currently serves on the boards of Citigroup, Inc., Nike, Inc., the National Bureau of Economic Research and the Economic Club of New York. He is also a member of the Economic Advisory Panel of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

“The Protiviti Advisory Board was formed to assist Protiviti and our clients in anticipating and adapting to change,” said Joseph Tarantino, Protiviti president and CEO. “As we witness diverging economic trends across the globe, Peter’s expertise in international finance will be instrumental in helping Protiviti and its clients interpret and address these developments.”

"The role of business in shaping the economy is undeniable and Protiviti’s commitment to ensuring the long-term success of its clients, by turning challenges into opportunity, is what drew me to this role,” said Peter Henry. “I’m looking forward to joining the other members of the Advisory Board and sharing my experiences and perspectives with Protiviti and its clients.”

Henry joins current Protiviti Advisory Board members Frances Townsend, former Assistant to President George W. Bush for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism and former chair of the Homeland Security Council; and Evelyn Dilsaver, the former president and CEO of Charles Schwab Investment Management.
