Tony Sanfrancesco

Tony is a director at Protiviti Australia with over 10 years’ experience providing internal audit, project and program assurance for the federal government agencies. Tony has led teams to deliver both outsourced internal audit arrangements as well as providing assurance on large program and projects with a proven ability in understanding complex risks and problems faced by clients and developing and delivering pragmatic solutions. 

Tony has extensive experience in delivering services across risk management, project and programs, governance, legislative compliance and internal audit.

Major projects and accomplishments

• Internal audit: Tony has been the lead director for a number of the largest internal audit outsourced services in the Commonwealth. This has included delivery of the full suite of internal audit services, including development of strategic internal audit plans, compliance, performance and technology audits as well as management initiated review. Tony has also performed assurance mapping services for several agencies as well as presented to a number of audit and risk committees.
• Project and program assurance: Tony has delivered project and program assurance services for several tier 1 and tier 2 projects in the Commonwealth. Tony leads out project and program assurance services for the Federal Government and has a strong understanding of digital transformation agency frameworks and better practice guidance. Tony has provided delivery confidence assessments, health checks and deep dives for Federal Government projects.
• Risk management: Tony has developed risk management plans aligned with Department of Finance guidance and frameworks. Tony has facilitated risk management workshops with senior executives to understand strategic risks as well as advised on the better practice in risk management.
