Shane leads Protiviti Australia's Canberra office, overseeing national technology assurance, project confidence, and data governance. With 20 years' experience, he advises government departments on system transformation and manages federal accounts across social services, defence, and regulatory sectors. He also leads tech and data practices for technology and financial services clients.

He has served on several ISACA chapter boards in Australia and currently holds independent advisory positions on various committees. 

Major projects and accomplishments

Program assurance and/ confidence assessments: Shane has an extensive background in delivering program assurance and consulting services for significant business and technology transformation programs across both public and private sectors. His expertise includes program management, change management, benefits realisation, risk management, testing management, incident and defect management, and quality management. 

Data and AI governance: Shane has successfully led multiple consulting engagements focused on assessing and implementing organisational data governance. He is skilled in evaluating maturity against CPG 235 standards, developing data governance and data quality strategies, and designing roadmaps for enhanced data management. Additionally, he provides independent advisory services and serves as a board member for data governance committees. 

Technology assurance: Shane has significant experience leading complex technology assurance projects that address areas such as technology strategy and governance, data and AI governance, cyber security, privacy, data management, technology risk, information and records management, resilience, business continuity, and disaster recovery.

Cybersecurity: Shane plays a crucial role in formulating and implementing cyber security strategies for organisations. He oversees the implementation of controls to strengthen security postures and ensure alignment with industry standards, such as ISO 27001, the Information Security Manual (ISM), NIST, Essential 8, and CPS 234.
