Life At Protiviti

Leading with Resilience and Authenticity

Belton Flournoy

Technology Consulting – Cybersecurity, London, UK

Belton Flournoy is a transformational leader whose global journey is matched only by his dedication to authentic connection. From starting in Milwaukee to calling London home for more than 15 years, Belton’s story is one of personal growth, empathetic leadership, and innovative client solutions.

Belton has always been a strong advocate for “vulnerable” leadership. He believes in its power more than ever after his three-month sabbatical, during which he invested in self-reflection and personal growth—often in far-flung spots around the world.

Today, Belton’s passion for problem-solving has never been stronger, and he infuses those lessons into his leadership style. “My sabbatical taught me that success isn’t just about metrics—it’s about personal growth and authentic connection,” Belton emphasises, a philosophy he now authentically brings to his engagements and client conversations.

A Journey Beyond Borders

Belton’s career at Protiviti launched in Milwaukee, quickly moving through Chicago to what was intended as a two-year assignment in London. Now, a decade and a half into that assignment, Belton has earned UK citizenship, embraced new challenges, and built resilience that has repeatedly helped him guide clients in navigating complex transformations.

As part of his evolving role, Belton is now responsible for managing Protiviti’s UK Marketing team and overseeing UK marketing initiatives, alongside continued leadership in Cybersecurity & Digital Identity focus areas.

Transforming Challenges into Client Success

Belton’s commitment to open communication and personal growth resonates deeply in his client work in cybersecurity and identity services, and in his role driving collaboration with Microsoft in the UK. Accustomed to adapting to high-stakes environments, he guides teams to design solutions that not only solve immediate issues but also anticipate future needs.

Since 2018, Belton has partnered with a global financial services client to strengthen its cybersecurity posture, growing the relationship through strategic delivery, trusted relationships and consistently exceeding expectations. Highlights include hosting a “Better Together” cyber awareness event for two leading UK banks and recently delivering a design-thinking SWOT assessment. The outsized impact of the SWOT assessment prompted the client to engage Protiviti to automate the management of strategic and business-as-usual tasks using enabling technology such as ServiceNow.

Championing Inclusion

A passionate advocate for inclusion, Belton champions authenticity as a cornerstone of both personal and professional success. In the workplace, it’s a catalyst for building trust and psychological safety within teams. Personally, it has empowered him to lead with purpose—founding Protiviti’s ProPride UK and now co-leading the firm’s global multicultural network. Beyond Protiviti, Belton shares his story through keynote speeches with TLC Lions, inspiring others to embrace their own authenticity. He also contributes his expertise as a member of the advisory board for the London School of Economics Inclusion Initiative.

For Belton, authenticity is the thread that weaves through every aspect of leadership. Whether orchestrating complex technology programs or coaching his team on effective client engagement strategies, he leads with empathy and intention. His commitment to genuine connection fosters trust and adaptability—qualities that translate into people-centric solutions for clients. By investing in our own growth, we elevate those around us—clients and colleagues alike.
