Major Projects

UK Retail Bank – COO Risk and Controls

Led a team of 5 to shape and deliver a set of strategic priorities for the Bank using Agile project management techniques.

  • Risk and control libraries: Optimised a series of risk and control libraries across 5 business areas. Mapped risks and controls to primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Led over 30 workshops to identify gaps and rationalisation opportunities across risk and control types, resulting in design/redesign of ~30% of controls, reduction of ~ 30% of controls and identification of automation potential for a further ~30% of controls
  • Control Automation: Defined a method and playbook to empower Bank colleagues to automate controls. Ran a pilot to automate a set of controls using tactical tools available in the Bank
  • Control Testing Optimisation (Tech Led Monitoring): Defined a centre of excellence operating model that was data led, exceptions based and continuously monitored control testing results. Ran a pilot to prove out the new operating model and identified cost and risk mitigation benefits
  • RCSA Change Method: Conducted a series of workshops to define a method that empowered product owners within change labs to own the one RCSA framework and self identify new risks with a view to reduce reliance on the Bank’s risk function

Global Investment Bank – Conflicts of Interest

  • Risk and control library: Led a team to define a risk and control taxonomy to appropriately manage Conflicts of Interest in the Bank. Ran 5 workshops to identify key risks and controls across the investment banking division

Global Investment Bank – Regulation, Risk and Control Mapping

  • Defined and agreed the target operating model to improve compliance and reduce cost through transparent mapping of regulatory and legal obligations to risks and controls
