Darryn Long

Darryn is a director within the technology consulting business with over 24 years’ experience. He specialises in cloud advisory and implementing world class, large scale, global enterprise (including highly regulated) public cloud programs.

Major Projects and Roles:

• Technology Leadership - Darryn has represented the UK’s largest insurer (global FTSE 40 organisation) as their Global Head of Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) which was responsible, across UK, Europe, Asia and Canada, for all aspects of public Cloud strategy, governance, architecture, education and training, technology adoption and responding to risk/audit and regulatory requests. In addition, the CCoE provided an internal consulting practice for the application teams advising them through design, best practice, technology choices and proof of concepts.
• Cloud Transformation and Implementations - Darryn was the lead architect for UK’s largest insurer with a budget of over $230m, implementing global Cloud platforms, organisation, migration factory, education programme and modernisation framework. This resulted in the transformation of application architecture, development and operational practices, through the adoption of Cloud PaaS, Open Source and Container services and embedding Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to drive a “DevOps” culture.
• Cloud Centre of Excellence and Operating Models - Darryn has designed, built and led industry recognised Cloud: Centres of Excellence and Operating Models at multiple organisations including establishing FinOps capabilities to monitor, optimise ad continually drive down Cloud costs.
• Technology Strategy and Architecture - Darryn has delivered Cloud, Digital and Technology strategies at multiple organisations across many industries. Darryn has also held lead architecture roles across many programmes delivering successful large-scale programme and systems architectures, achieving the strategic outcomes for the business.
• Digital Transformation - Darryn lead the Digital architecture for a state government agency for a $100M digital channels transformation programme aimed at empowering customers digitally, driving digital consolidation and coordination through web, social media, voice, mobile app and open data channels. The organisation undertook major transformation by adopting Agile, DevOps, Automation, Containerisation and AWS Cloud resulting in higher levels of resiliency, scalability and availability with the ability to deliver business changes in shorter development cycles at a lower cost.
