SAP INSIGHTS: OCTOBER 2020
From Data & Analytics, to Security & Privacy, to Business Process Optimization and Risk & Compliance, we have you covered!
Central Finance and Improving the Financial Close Benchmark Report
Pressure to speed the delivery of business insight continues to put pressure on financial organizations to accelerate their accounting close and reporting cycles. SAP’s S/4HANA in-memory technology, and Universal Journal architecture, carries potential to dramatically shift both the closing process as well as the access to live operational information in reporting and analysis environments. This report, sponsored by Protiviti, examines changes in SAP users’ approaches to financial data and closing processes, and benchmark strategies and results across the market.
National Vision Enhances SAP Business Planning and Consolidation with SAP Analytics Cloud
National Vision, a leader in the U.S. optical industry, is a retailer that has seen tremendous growth since it was founded in 1990. National Vision turned to their long-standing partner, Protiviti, to extend the capabilities of SAP Business Planning and Consolidation, their full financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting tool, with SAP Analytics Cloud Planning.
Upgrading to SAP GRC 12: Down to the Wire
We are just weeks away from the SAP GRC application reaching the end of its mainstream maintenance on December 31 of this year. Organizations who are running Access Control, Process Control or Risk Management 10.x should be upgrading to GRC 12 now; otherwise, the consequences for not upgrading could include entering the extended maintenance period or customer-specific maintenance.
As a reminder, after the maintenance period ends, companies will not be able to log support incidents for the 10.x versions, however, but will still be able to search the SAP Support Portal to find existing issues and solutions.

The Power of Hybrid Analytics
As part of a typical business intelligence program, organizations are bound to take advantage of multiple systems. One system may provide exceptional reporting capabilities. Another may provide best-in-class dashboarding. The challenge is understanding where and how to access multiple systems in a business intelligence landscape. This is where hybrid analytics becomes necessary.
Hybrid analytics is an architecture that combines business intelligence systems that are both on-premise with those that are cloud based. Because analytics can be developed through multiple business intelligence platforms and stored in different locations, discovery of useful analytics can be difficult. The hybrid analytics system removes the need to remember where a report or visualization is stored.
Governing SAP Applications with Cloud Identity Access Governance
Previously, we wrote about Cloud Identity Access Governance (IAG) based on the latest news coming out of a recent SAPinsider event. In this post, we would like to provide an update on the solution and clarify two editions we think are important to understand.
Enrich SAP Analytics Cloud with Microsoft’s Excel Plug-In
As a relatively new SAP analytics tool, the features SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) offers are ever-evolving to benefit the end user. Earlier this year, SAP introduced an Excel add-in that allows companies to integrate their SAC analytic and planning models with Excel and explore data insights in the familiar spreadsheet tool. In this blog, we’ll look at how this new plug-in works and explain why it makes clients’ lives easier.
Effectively Manage Enterprise Risk in Today's Connected Technology Ecosystem Thu, Nov 12 | 11am ET
In today’s world of interconnected business applications, succeeding at managing and controlling enterprise security is a must. Although past approaches for managing risk around access and segregation of duties are still relevant, evolutions in robotic process automation, data privacy, cybersecurity, and shadow IT require a different focus than general IT control reviews. A strong enterprise security program takes a holistic approach to mitigating risk by considering how technology, people, and processes can work together to address threats both inside and outside of your business. So, how can you instill confidence in your executive team that the enterprise security controls they have deployed will be effective?
Join this webinar and learn how to:
- Apply the people+process+technology equation to create a strong framework for your enterprise security strategy
- Convince leadership that the security framework you are proposing will be effective
- Empower employees to take control of enterprise security with more awareness of threats and methods that all users can follow to mitigate risk.
