Project leader responsible for assessing and improving a savings measurement process for a half billion dollar cost reduction program. Under Mike’s guidance, the team redesigned the measurement approval process; implemented roles and responsibilities; established a governance framework; and constructed robust, and customizable tools around Standard Savings Guidelines, a Productivity Forecasting Tool and a Monthly Savings Database. Within eight weeks these enhancements provided the client with greater savings visibility, the ability to quickly identify issues and immediately course correct, and cleared $26MM in backlogged projects that had been waiting for approval for over five months.

Account Director responsible for leading a team of 40+ procurement resources (Buyers, Category Managers and Regional Leads) to build and manage an $800MM indirect procurement function (Logistics, IT, HR, Professional Services, etc.). This involved the creation of a centralized buying center and necessary procurement processes from requisitioning to invoicing, approval flows, spend thresholds, payment processing, category management, vendor management, etc.. In addition, the program created and implemented a dynamic discounting initiative that identified over $3MM in savings within 8 weeks, plus the extension of payments terms (DPO). The program overall reduced procurement spend on average by 10% per project, effectively managing over $1B in spend and the top 200 suppliers. Global account responsibility included Europe, ME & Africa, N. America, ANZ, LATAM and Asia Pacific.
Account manager responsible for supporting and developing a sourcing and procurement department, driving over $20MM in year one savings and over $17MM in year two savings through cost reduction initiatives. To support the cost reduction initiative, Mike led the on-time and within budget implementation of Oracle’s Spend Analytics and Sourcing modules following the SDLC process; analyzed over $1B in spend to develop a tailored spend category tree for direct and indirect materials that also led to the clean up of the clients vendor master from 18,000 suppliers to 15,000; and supported the development and design of eProcurement catalogs (virtual, punch-out, non-catalog request forms, etc.), including management of the catalogs (catalog creation, publishing and maintenance) and development of approval flows and thresholds. In order to sustain these initiatives and support change management, Mike helped to train over 10 end-users and enable 20 suppliers on the new systems by developing training guides/manuals, cheat sheets and communications.
Managed a global procurement team to achieve YOY annual savings of $15MM across ~200 annual projects, including working capital improvements to increase DPO. Mike was responsible for analyzing over 150 annual projects (Logistics, IT, HR, Professional Services, etc.) across 4 global regions to ensure on-time delivery and that savings targets were met. In addition, Mike and his team built an in-depth project and savings tracking tool to manage the 150+ annual projects; created and designed necessary procurement processes to develop departmental and supplier efficiencies; performed monthly reviews of the client’s vendor master; and held supplier quarterly business reviews to ensure supplier performance was up to par.
