Enterprise Cloud

James Fox, Director, Enterprise Cloud, Protiviti
A report by the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (#AFME) and Protiviti outlines potential key regulatory barriers to the greater adoption of #cloudservices in #capitalmarkets and provides recommendations for policymakers, regulators, and #CloudServiceProviders (CSPs) to assist #banks with their adoption.

Building Resilience in the Cloud finds that, while banks are increasing migration to the cloud and identifying solutions to address regulatory concerns, two solutions that are becoming increasingly proposed by policymakers - #portability and #multi-cloud strategies – may introduce further barriers to adoption. Robin Amlôt of IBS Intelligence discusses the issues with James Fox, Director, Enterprise Cloud, of Protiviti.

According to Gartner, by 2021, over 75% of midsize and large organisations will have adopted a multi-cloud and/or hybrid IT strategy. By 2022, public cloud services will be essential for 90% of business innovation. (Gartner, Predicts 2019: Increasing Reliance on Cloud Computing Transforms IT and Business Practises)

There is a notable increase in cloud strategy initiatives to align cloud adoption with defined business outcomes, including cost savings, agility, innovation, and the strategic use of cloud for IT modernisation and digital transformation.

Control Your Cloud: Who’s Responsible For Regulatory Compliance?

Ensuring security and compliance ‘in the cloud’ is a customer’s responsibility and needs to be approached in the same manner as existing IT risk management approaches, with cloud specific controls identified & applied.

Customers need to plan for how their existing IT control frameworks need to evolve to support both the shift in responsibility but also the type of controls that can be deployed in cloud environments.

Download our Cloud Control Model & Toolsets to find out more about end-to-end control traceability to enable Risk & Compliance, Security and Technical Teams and ensure the right level of rigour is applied to your cloud environments. Our automated platform specific toolsets enable customers to rapidly deploy controls into your environment and allow you to adapt your control environment over time e.g. if regulatory requirements change.

Migrating to the cloud has given us the flexibility to securely access resources from anywhere. And, because the products are already tied together, integration is not a problem. This was our third project with Protiviti over the course of a year. It’s easy to choose an organisation that you consistently receive great results from.
