The result of the UK’s referendum held on 23 June 2016 to leave the EU triggered uncertainty across the globe. The result has had significant implications for organisations in the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty was triggered by the UK on 29 March 2017, which means the UK will leave the EU by 29 March 2019 at the latest, ahead of the EU Parliament elections in May 2019, with negotiations between the UK and the EU due to start in June 2017. Exactly how the withdrawal will work and what the true impact will be is still an unknown.

As the long-term economic and geo-political implications from the decision play out, there are many practical considerations and risks relating to the challenges and opportunities presented by Brexit which need to be navigated in order to face the future with confidence.

Protiviti is committed to supporting organisations to prepare for any scenario and make informed risk-based decisions on the practical implications of the leave decision relating to: people, business models, relationships with its customers and suppliers, technology and data; risk and financial management.

We will of course be monitoring the exit process including the steps being taken by the UK Government and the negotiations with the EU.
