Peter Bell, Managing Director, Protiviti

Peter is a Managing Director in the Canberra office of Protiviti. Peter has more than 25 years delivering internal audit and risk management services to a range of clients. This includes seventeen years serving Australian Government clients in Canberra.

Peter has managed outsourced internal audit service delivery for many clients including Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP), Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) and Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Peter has a real depth of experience in risk management in Government. His work has encompassed, framework building, developing risk management plans, advising on existing risk management approaches and Enterprise Risk Management. Peter is one of the few consultants who has provided strategic risk and control advice from the perspective of resource allocation and control design. His work for the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service resulted in a major transformation program to ensure its structure and resourcing was better aligned to risk. Peter has provided risk management advice to DIAC, Department of Broadband, Communication and the Digital Economy, the MDBA, the ANAO, the ATO and many others.

Susan Ryan, Protiviti Australia

Susan Ryan, Director, Protiviti

Susan has spent most of the last 17 years of her career consulting with a range of public & private sector organisations.

There she helped in establishing leading practice governance, risk & controls. She has a wide range of experience in internal audit, performance reviews, risk frameworks, project management, and evaluations. Susan is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Susan has been a Senior Executive Service Band 1 officer with large Australian Government organisations, including the then Department of Immigration and Citizenship; and has worked internationally with major private sector companies including the Walt Disney Company.

Susan spent two years in London establishing the Audit and Risk Department for the Olympic Delivery Authority, the public body responsible for developing and building the new venues and infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Susan has led internal audit and risk services related to assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of internal processes and projects, and evaluating processes and controls to confirm they address identified risks. These projects have included detailed process mapping and control assessments.
