Professional Experience
Laszlo Lencses is a Director, focused on business risk management at Protiviti Consulting. Prior to Protiviti, he spent eight years at Arthur Andersen where he performed special investigations, process reviews, due diligence, external audits and provided risk-consulting services. His main clients have been banks, broker/dealers, investment banks, asset managers and insurance companies.
 
Representative Engagements Include
  1. Served as the Manager on several treasury internal audit, Sarbanes Oxley compliance as well as special projects. Responsibilities ranged from the performance of the risk assessment and development of the audit program to the issuance of the report of findings. Covered wide range of Treasury processes including, investments, derivatives, interest rate risk management, trading operations, cash management and wires, etc. Supervised engagement teams and quality controlled the work performed
  2. Performed internal control reviews of banks, broker dealers and asset managers. Reviews included end to end review of trading operations inclusive of front, middle and back office. Identified process universe and conducted interviews. Identified key risk and control points as well as potential gaps
  3. Assisted several financial institutions with their Sarbanes Oxley 404 initiatives. Performed work in the Investments and Debt areas. Developed project plans, generated the requisite SOA 404 documentation and performed control testing. Managed a number of engagements ranging from teams of three to seventeen consultants
  4. Served as external auditor on several large banking organizations. Responsibilities included planning audits, supervising the audit team and quality controlling the work performed. Performed standard audit procedures and prepared auditors reports
  5. Assisted a major trust organization in their evaluation of escheatable funds. Analyzed dormant accounts and reviewed supporting documentation. Conducted interviews with compliance, business and accounting personnel. Reviewed the accounting treatment of the items identified to be escheatable
  6. Assisted a major insurance company in its evaluation of its quarterly vehicle residual value insurance claims. Managed project teams at client locations. Developed a customized lease template for the collection of the requisite lease data. Developed and populated a custom made, insurance policy specific, access database. Created a customized gain/loss calculator using queries and macros to reflect the specifications of the policy language. Collected and evaluated the lease data. Prepared a consulting procedures report summarizing the results
  7. Worked with large banking clients on reviewing, analyzing and summarizing derivative transactions, including pricing assumptions and methodology, structuring and GAAP
  8. Team leader on a post merger investigation project focused on evaluating the existing internal trading environment. Evaluated the deal capture of equity, bond and swap trades. Developed an Access based automated methodology whereby internal trades could be analyzed. Evaluated the banks monthly trading activity for erroneous trades. Performed trade modifications and made recommendations to improve the internal control structure
