Professional Background
Chris is a Managing Director within Protiviti and a member of the Global Leadership Team for Supply Chain Solutions. He has over thirteen years experience in supply chain, both within industry and serving clients as a consultant. He has a proven track record of analyzing, improving, and transforming organizations and processes and delivering sustainable cost savings for clients in the Manufacturing, High-Tech, Oil and Gas, Energy/Utilities, Financial Services, Healthcare, and Media/Publishing industries. Representative Engagements Include
  1. Supply chain strategy implementation and organizational design. Led contract management process and system implementation. Reduced average contract lead time from 16 weeks to 4 weeks. Sourcing initiative for 6 direct categories, resulting in $18M in annual cost savings associated with $103M in spend (17.5%)
  2. Future state contract management process definition and organization design. Led system requirements definition and system selection. Implemented tier 1 contract management system, including vendor management and compliance program
  3. Re-engineered procurement, accounts payable, and contract management functions Conducted spend and inventory analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and working capital improvement. Developed and implemented formal Strategic Sourcing methodology and supporting processes/tools across the organization. Developed Executive-level supply chain dashboard and performance reporting. Sourced Transportation (Freight Forwarding, TL/LTL), resulting in 6% annual savings
  4. Reengineered Accounts Payable function to support integration of newly acquired company with approximately $1.3B in annual spend. Designed and implemented inventory and materials management function across all locations, including receiving, transfers, cycle counting, E&O analysis and asset retirement
  5. Implemented Accounts Payable Shared Serviced Center – consolidating 9 regions. Designed and implemented future state processes and supporting technology to improve processing efficiency. Identified $2.9M - $4.5M in working capital improvements through payment terms rationalization and optimization, and recovery of identified financial leakage
  6. Procurement Transformation Project, including current state assessment of processes (Sourcing, Contract Management, Supplier & Category Management, and Transaction Management), organization structure, systems usage (Oracle r12), spend and working capital assessment ($1.2B annual spend), development of sourcing wave-plan and transformation roadmap/ solution design. Total 5 year savings estimate ranges from $35M - $72M (6 – 11% of addressable spend)
  7. Designed future state Supplier Management program and roadmap. Project included an enterprise exposure assessment to measure inherent risk across service types, lines of business, and specific suppliers, as well as an assessment and best gap analysis of the current state processes, organization, and systems across multiple regulatory requirements and best practices
  8. Enterprise transformation, including S&OP, CRM, demand- supply planning, inventory management, product and customer master data management, product development/BOM, financial analysis, executive reporting and strategic modeling. Implemented immediate term enhancements to improve efficiency and productivity, inventory reduction of ~$100 million, reduction of purchases / external spend by $35 million, reduced planning and reporting cycle time by 4-6 weeks, improved system functionality (integrated planning tool, SAP APO, SFDC integration)
